Repeater wing light wiring

Post by Lewy » Mon Nov 15, 2010 9:16 pm

Hi - MOT failure on a couple of things. I wonder if any one can help. Drivers side repeater light. I've changed bulb - but no good until I jiggled the wiring and got a light, getting an intermitent voltage reading from the two wires at the spade connector, so I think I've got a loose connection somewhere.

So question is, does anyone know where the two wires connect to so I can trace the fault. I assume they end up at the indicator unit? Also has anyone removed the plastic trim directly above the wheel so I cna trace the wires? Pull off or bolts?

I know people have replaced the orange holder with somehting more slick - but has removed them or blanked the hole?

Thanks

Serves you right  - mine is too old for side repeaters :(
Geoff will probably be along soon - he's done all the wiring diagrams 8)

Hi

yours went through SVA or IVA coming into country under 10 years old, so indicators will have been added for this purpose, not required if over 10 years old when first registered in UK... however for MOT if they are fitted they have to work.

The converted will have likely piggybacked onto the indicator wiring at the headlamp, probably with a scotch lock probably without taping it and probably this has moisture in it and has gone all green and yucky....probably (feeling very carlsberg today) you need to remove scotch locks clean up wires fit new ones then tape them all up so no moisture can get in.

Thanks for those replies - yes I can see that it is an add on and likely to have simply been added to existing loom - I will have a shuftie over the weekend and try and trace the wires back to the scotch block or what ever it is they used - Thanks.

Can't help I'm afraid there not shown on either of the Manuals up to Jan 1999, I suspect that they fitted them only to the later models :-(
My best guess would be that they are off the same feed however as the sidelights etc.
