Failed MOT:-(

Post by Germarchip » Tue Nov 23, 2010 1:32 pm

Well that time of year has come again, and yes you guessed it-She failed... Some bits I think I can sort, such as:-
1) Air freshener hanging from Mirror (it is honestly on the failure sheet)
2) Side lights a tad too blue [-X
3) CV gaiter split on 1 side :(

But along with the above list, the center part of the exhaust needs replacing along with the back box. Can anyone point me in the best economical route for purchase of said item [-o<

Sorry to hear about your fail. Did they really mention the air freshener? Surely they could just take it off (or maybe it had run out of freshness - if it's fitted it has to work  )

Can't help with any advice, just had to say something as I am STUNNED!

Hi Germarchip,

That's the kind of MOT that I like, you know they have been thorough. The ones that pass with flying colours,I often wonder, what have they missed.Only a Thought.

Cheers.

Go for a S/Steel system, not much dearer but lasts much longer and you don't have to have a heavyweight dustbin sized rear box any longer.

Funny you mention the air freshener...! I had a band pass hanging from my mirror a couple of years ago.. After an MOT i found it removed & placed in the centre console... They must have removed it to get my van to pass..! :D

Does sound a little "hard core", But i suppose they would remove it if they are & it's the only fail?? Just to keep it fair...! 8)

I would guess it comes under obscure vision...???? (Windscreen chip/crack, that sort of thing..?)

I am amazed at the things I see hanging on driving mirrors. Giant furry dice being the favourites, even nowadays. Dicing with death presumably.

No way would I want to fit a distracting blind spot creating device slap in the middle of my view.

Once when I was driving someone elses car, edging out through traffic to turn right, I noticed something move on the left in my peripheral vision. I braked. It was something hanging on the bl##dy mirror!

I took the hint regarding the MOT! In fairness, I personally don't tolerate something like a map/directions on white A4 type thing reflecting off the dash to windscreen, or a passenger leaning forward obscuring the passenger mirror!!

Not too far from us is a Bongo with the consecutive registration to ours, it is also the same colour (but the decals are different). Isaac always refers to it as "Seymour's Twin Sister". I said "How do you know it's a girl Bongo" and he said "Because she's wearing a necklace". Sure enough, there are beads hanging from the rear view mirror

Hi! :D I agree that MIJ are the people to contact. I had a complete custom stainless exhaust system fitted there for £249, not much more than a standard one(and the back box is smaller). This comes with a Lifetime warrenty which is transferable (effectively the life of the Bongo) =D> It took 2 hours to fit so I walked down the canal into Walsall. They will send out a system for you to get fitted local to you.Try http://www.mijperfomance.com :D :D :D Michael "Bongoin in the Peak"
