4 pin plug behind blank switch on dash - wots it for?

Post by maviczap » Fri Nov 19, 2010 7:12 pm

After succussfully fitting my MPH speedo facia and coolant alarm to my Bongo, I wanted to know what the function of the 4 pin socket behind the blank switch on the dash

On the left there's the rear window heater switch, I know what thats for

But on the right hand side is a 4 pin socket with red and black wires. 4 in total.

It must plug into to an additional switch, is it for the front fog light switch?

I think when Bongos were built they all had more or less the same wiring loom fitted regardless of what extras were going to be fitted..e.g. electric blinds...if a bongo does not have electric blinds the wiring/switchplugs will be in there somwhere....
It would not be a rear foglight as these were never intended to be fitted in Japan...it could be front fog or any number of things....do you have fog lights fitted at the front ??

Its got electric blinds, so its not for those.

I did say is it for the Front fog lights which are fitted to my Bongo as well, although they are broken :D

I was giving electric blinds as a example ...it could be anything.
The colours of the wires may be of some help

I can tell you that one of the wires is live & one goes to ground on that loom when the side light is on... Try it with a meter!?? Its for the switch back-light when fitted! :wink:
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...

When the side lights are on the dash lights up & so do the switches...

& so does one of the wires on this baby... The other one goes to ground... I used the spare connector to power some additional lighting on my dash... :wink:

The Front Fog light switch has Red with Black stripe and a Black, twice one for the switch itself one for the illumination light and is positioned here as E2-01;

Geoff,
Thanks very much, I haven't taken the dash off again, but pretty sure you're 100% correct.

I'll buy a switch to go with the foglights I won on ebay !
