Disconnecting automatic sliding door??

Post by mountainchris » Tue Dec 21, 2010 6:34 pm

Is it possible to pull a fuse so that the auto-closing side door on my V6 aft does not operate? It appears to be the likliest candidate to flattening my battery in this cold weather! :?

Look forward to any help from the Bongo Fury collective... [-o<

Cheers

Being honest, if the Bongo has a decent starter battery, I don't think the sliding door presents much of a risk. Disconnecting may cause more problems than it solves (they are known to be finnicky if they suffer a power interruption, sticking in the closed position). A good starter battery should be 95AmpHr (or more) in my opinion. Mine's now 4yrs old and seems as fresh as when it was fitted. Bongo starts at the touch of a key, every time, no matter how cold, suggesting glowplugs (mine's a diesel) getting healthy voltage even under high cranking amps etc. 8)

Fair points, cheers mike... but the door seems temperamental and will cycle the auto close motor even when the door is closed :| its fine in warm weathers but just seems to happen when the temperature plummets! If there is a fuse to pull then at least I could solve the issue for those very cold nights... unless it is just a case of sorting out some of the connections? or pulling the door panel off to see if there is something 'sticking'?- Don't fancy doing the latter at the moment as its blooming freezing...

All fuses are listed in the members area which is free to access all through december - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/member ... usebox.pdf - no 17, bottom row left 15a fuse.
Why do you think it's the sliding door causing issues? is it having problems closing properly & "cycling"? May just need the contacts cleaning if so, or cleaning out & lubricating runners/rollers etc.
Too slow, you just answered it
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Ah! I see your problem. the only *risk* then I guess is that the door might refuse to open at all with a disabled autoclose. Only one way to find out I fear................
