Window switch clip repair replacement

Anybody got any tips on repairing the drivers side window control switch clip.

Switch works fine, but seems like the retaining clip is a common failure?

I'm not paying the ridiculous Ebay prices for the whole switch, when its just the clip thats the problem.

I have the same problem and would like to repair the switch rather than replace it.

It's worth noting that the switch unit is not unique to the Bongo. I believe switch units from certain versions of the 323F, MX3, 626 and Ford Ranger will fit (but I haven't tried myself).

I have noticed that 'Bongo' is a magical word that makes anything on Ebay at least 4x more valuable.
MX3 switch = £35. Bongo switch £120

i make a dog leg shaped piece of thin metal, 5-10mm wide, that will hook under the leading edge of the door card,this will screw on to the forward screw on the underside of the switch plate.works well.make it out of thin spring steel,and it will have some (give) in it,allowing for fitting, mind you dont mark the door card,whilst fitting,as this is only a thin skin of grey covering.

I did similar to NB with a cheap little metal angle bracket trimmed & bent to the right shape & screwedonto the switch, took all of 10 minutes.

Here's what i did to mine! (Left side.)



Yeah the original plastic clip on the front does break off!!
I used the two clips that came with the 626 switch plate, screwed the top one in with the screw to the Bongo plate, wedged the bottom clip in & tightened down.... It snaps in & don't move... To remove without damaging the door card i unscrew all the card retaining screws, lift the door card from the bottom & put my hand up to unclip from behind...

I have fixed loads with a dog leg piece of thin aluminium. Easy enough, and all it need to do usually is hold the front end in to allow the rear to clip in place.

The clip on the switch is a common fail... I have a folded over bit of fag packet to wedge my switch in place! Hey it works!
