New wheels

Post by jimpearceuk » Sun Jan 02, 2011 12:48 am

Having read lots about wheels, alloys, different sizes etc and in need a new set, with no one selling standard steels, which would so me fine I have been browsing ....

What about these?

I don't want bling and they come with tyres to for that (prob rubbish ones)

Appreciate peoples views? are they up to the mighty lard of the 2ton beast? or how do I determine that?

Thanks Jim

It might be worth emailing the vendor to ask if they know the load rating of the actual wheel, though really they shouldn't be flogging them as bongo wheels if they only have a medium sized car weight rating.

Even if the rating is ok wouldn't they lower the gearing?
If going to the expense of new wheels and tyres why not do what Torchwood did and up the size to raise gearing. I followed in his footsteps, the speedo is now accurate to 1mph and will still manage 100mph on private roads. they also helped Torchwood improve fuel consumption.

Possibly not, as the advert says "Tyre sizes may vary with application". So it's possible they may supply the correct size tyre.

Cheers guys.
Does changing the rating and in effect altering the rolling diameter have any other effects? other that making the speedo accurate? I mean negative ones?
I have asked about the rating of the wheels, see what he comes back with.
Thanks Jim
