Radio Reception 2001 model.

Post by windywatson » Thu Jan 06, 2011 5:48 pm

The radio reception in my recently acquired 2001 Bongo is not particularly good. Have no problems with the older van that has the adjustable telescopic aerial. This newer one has a fixed length aerial & I was wondering if anyone out there has had any similar problems.
Have checked out with meter that there are no problems with the earthing and continuity of the coax from aerial to radio, and that all seems OK. Radio is one that I know to be good. Also fitted in line aerial amp and not really made any difference.

Suggestions please.

Cheers

is it a uk spec radio or the original japanese one ?

if its original japanese one you will need a little gadget that makes it work on the uk frequency

i still use the japanese one which works well but only for the cd player

sorry just noticed you are using a radio you are familiar with,

i can only think maybe the japanese aerial may have something within it that doesnt agree with our frequency ???? :?

Hi, I also have a 2001 aero. It has the original short ariel just behind the drivers door, below the AFT. We have fitted a new radio/cd player and are happy with the reception.
