No Oil pessure light

Post by maviczap » Wed Jan 26, 2011 4:51 pm

Ok, having changed the oil & filter yesterday, it dawned on me that the oil pressure light wasn't working and hasn't been working for a while.

I've done the obvious and changed the bulb over.

Where's the oil pressure sender on the engine & is there anything else I need to check.

and a little tip, its below the oil level so if removing it drain the oil first, unless you have a thin finger spare :lol: #-o . may be worth checking the lecky connection is good first. the deep large socket needed may also cost more than the new sender.

Hi Ady,
The oil pressure switch is on the crank case, the oil is in the sump.

Thanks guys, but as I understand the light on the dash serves two functions. One is for oil pressure & the other is low oil level? Have I got that right?

Could it be a fault on the dashboard.

I've still got the fault with the glow plug light not going out.

So could the oil pressure light not working be a fault in the dash, a short circuit?

Is there anyway to test the circuits?

Thanks

The circuit is here for the 1997-1999 diesel;

That shows two sensors C1-06 and C1-07
which relate to the two Lush project diagrams
For the Oil level 10-7301 http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... o=.html#17
For the Oil pressure 18-501 http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... no=.html#4

Sure you havent unplugged the pressure sensor as its located right byt the filter, it has a connector by the alternator and push on to the sensor, all in the vacinity of the oil filter.
