Key fob battery change

Simply bending the contacts, to ensure that the battery was a tight fit, fixed our remote central locking key fob. Hooray no more searching for the key hole in the dark!!
Our remote central locking packed up recently so I changed the key fob battery but this had no effect. I searched the forum and returned 34 pages of results so perhaps this is a common problem After a lot of trawling and trying out a number of re-programming / re-synching suggestions, checking the battery earth connection, and inspecting the door wiring (a lot of people suggest that this might be the issue) I was inspired by cozmo1589 who fixed theirs by dissassembling the key fob and cleaning it. This also worked for us! Thanks for all the helpful advice -what a great resource!

ok so heres how not to deal with a key fob -if your car has an engine immobiliser -if this is the last straw in a series of unfortunate events do not panic when opening it and pull the little thing that looks like a calculator battery out -thats the chip the battery is instead hidden under a cover and slides out quite easilly.If you do make such a mistake do not call out an autoelectrician too your remote home and then realise you havnt got any cash or a cheque book -do not have him follow you too the nearest cashpoint in his dodgy white van pull in to the local school yard (the only possible place to park -and then complete the transaction with your grandsons teachers looking on - not that i would know anyone daft enough to do anything so dumb.

I think I'll stick with conventional keys for as long as possible!

Never had any problem finding the keyhole. It's probably different if you are out of practice!
