Cheers julian ive just got back in from outside and sorted it it all works great now in mph and the fuel gauge is working (i assumed it was the sender after reading up on it here) but it sprang into life with the new clocks in ,i did the 100 ohm resister mod to the temp gauge and it sits at 12 oclock when its warmed up after about 20-30 mins tick over and the rad fans come on and off as they should had it running about an hour and a half today whilst a valeter cleaned the interior from top to bottom.
Ive kept the old clocks for record of kms of the car itself @200kms but im thinking its the engine milage thats important as stuff over the years that wears like shockkers springs tyres bearings all get replaced as needed at the mot time etc .
Anyway im happy now just cant wait to get my insurance docs through so i can tax it and use it every day
