2.0L Tin Top not starting

The engine will not turn over and there is just a clicking noise.
I have read other posts and realise it may be starter motor solenoid.
Is it best to check battery first before stripping the starter motor?

Check the batt first,it wont start with a flat batt.

As Rita said check the battery first it is always best to start with the simple things and work your way down the possable list of faults.

just imagine stripping the starter reconing it and then you find its the battery

Charged the battery and she started first time.
