Front brakepad fitting

Post by AJCIOW » Tue Feb 15, 2011 6:51 pm

can anyone tell me where I can get a front brake pad fitting kit. The shims etc which stop the pads rattling. There are lots available for other Mazda models, are the Bongo front brakkes the same as other models. There were non on my manky old fronts when I changed the discs and pads. they are rattling terribly now.

Cheers :D

The problem I have is that when the pads and discs were changed they were missing. Old ones would be fine, I would prefer new if I can get them, probably easier if there is a compatible model.

This shim thing seems to be a chronic problem. They seem to drop out and get lost when brake pads wear, but suppliers of new pads don't seem to include them. Why is that, as the (anti-rattle) shims make all the difference in stopping that irritating (and unsettling to some) click when reversing direction after braking etc.

Would any suppliers care to comment? 8)

Sorted it.

The pads / calipers seem to be the same as the MPV. A local motor factor got me some and they are the right ones.

Just to clear things up, now that i have got them, there are four clips that locate each side of the caliper in the nothches where the pads locate. Without them the pads are not held snugly in the caliper and rattle around, rubbing the disc slightly.

It was quite a rhythmical sound at times but did get funny looks from people as we went by.

Anyway, thanks for the posts.
