Speedo needle counter weights..........

Post by Simon B » Fri Feb 18, 2011 8:18 pm

...have I put them back in the right place. They fell out when I took the needle off to replace the speedo face and I'm not sure where they should be.
Does the photo below look correct.

I've only had my Bongo a couple of weeks. When I looked at it I was told the odometer was in Km but assumed the speedo was reading in MPH. I only realised the speedo was in KPH on the drive home from picking it up, which I find strange 'cos the van has been in the UK for 4 years. I thought the speedo had to be in MPH to be UK legal?

That looks right, provided you've fitted two weights, one on top of the other.
Allans Garage retired. Try PGS (Plymouth Garage Services) or Mayflower Auto Services Plymouth

Yes Simon~one on top of the other~some people put a spot of superglue on em to keep them there~as regards to speedo i thought same as you, that you had to have it in MPH to be legal.

I was going to glue them in but I wasn't sure they were in the right place! The dash is all back together now, so hopefully I wont ever need to it all to bits again. I put the needle back on with the ignition on so fingers crossed it's reading correctly, not quite sure how to check as I don't have a SatNav, I may need to try and borrow one.

Were quite lucky round here~theres them speed limit signs that flash when you approach them saying 28~30 ~35 etc; whatever speed your doing & there quite accurate.
