electric whiring noise when sliding door shuts

when i shut my door theres a mysterious electical whiring noise anybody know what that is? i thought it might be just a latch ?

Its the motor that quietly pulls the door closed and on to the latch itself. It starts from the point that the contacts on the side of the door make contact with the strip of contacts on the forward pillar;

That's why you don't have to slam the door shut , just slide it along till it makes contact.

I'm with Geoff.. Even when slammed fully shut the soft closure does its thing as a matter of course! :wink:
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...
