Electric mirrors not folding

Post by bongodonkey » Tue Mar 08, 2011 10:44 am

Hi there,

I've got a V6 LPG full convert (will post piccies once I figure out how to upload).

My mirrors are not folding in.

The fuse is fine (radio & cigar lighter work), and when I press the switch both mirrors 'flex' slightly and remain open.

Does anyone have an idea about what the issue could be before I start rooting about?

Cheers now,

Do they just need resetting ? Push them back manually and then open them again manually and the ratchet will re-engage and all will be fine.

Hi Geoff,

Tried and sadly it didn't work.

It's one of those niggles that are a 'nice to have' and will have to be put on a back burner, as I've still got to sort out a decent aerial for our radio. The internal ones are pump and I'm trying to figure out which external type and locations would be best suited. The little wife gets testy if she can't get her radio 2 fix whilst we bongo!

I actually need some who knows about electrics and can offer some direction on what just needs a clean up (hopefully the mirror issues) and what is best suited for bongos.

I've made the error of purchasing an expensive head unit and a 19in monitor for the back, without a clue on how to fit it. Sadly in Hereford there isn't an independent specialist shop around to do the fit or offer advice on correct aerials to suit.

Catch up later mate.

The other common problem is the drivers door wiring loom, the area where it enters the door itself often causes problems as the loom is stretched at that point becuase of the way its clamped, causing breaks in the wires see here for details http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... 92#p474792

Cheers mate, will take a look at it.

I am going to ask around at work to find someone that knows a bit about electrics and stereos etc to se if they can sort me out.

I don't mind tackling stuff, however with electrics I could well end up doing more damage than good. However I will check the state of the wiring and if it is cracked/snapped I'll repair and remove that clip.
