Passenger window not working.....

Post by dext924 » Thu Mar 17, 2011 2:20 pm

this has been happening over a period of time, where it would take longer and longer to go up. Well, it now won't budge. The switches are fine, i think the problem lies behind the panel. I know somewhere on here there are schematic diagrams for all parts of the bongo, but only having looked once I have forgot where it is and can't seem to find it. Could someone please point me in the right direction?

Has anyone had this happen before, and how did you fix it?

Many thanks

It could be breaks in the wiring loom where they passs through the door panel to the door post, quite a common problem

I would agree with that, possibly strands in the wire have been breaking one by one and creating resistance hence why the slow operation, till finally they are all broken.

Worth checking that first before going into the oily bits!

Before you start taking things apart, try spraying just inside the inner rubber window seal with some silicone spray... The seal was slowing my passenger window down to the point where it almost stopped moving at all, sprayed it, jobs a good un! :D

Didn't think about the wires. Tried some fairy down the rubber but its just not budging at all now, using either switch.

Will check the wiring at the weekend and see if it is that.

It was working before winter, but not using them for a while, I thought it might have seized or the parts in the door just need a bit of lub. It did work better using the passenger switch, but even that has stopped now.

is the door panel easy to get off??

I've had a problem with my front passenger window for some time but can never find the time to have a proper look at it. The window goes down fine from the front passenger switch but refuses to go back up again. However it goes down and up without any problems from the driver's window switch. Any suggestions.

Sounds like it could be a dicky drivers side switch - thats what turned out to be my problem. Does the switch feel a bit loose when you pull it to get the window to come up?

From what Tony says is it not more likely to be an issue relating to the passenger side switch? It seems the drivers side switch is working fine.

That's what I thought. Tried a quick fix with a mazda 626 switch on the passenger side. Still no joy. :( I guess that I will just have to leave June at home more often, she complains too much about it.
