SLIDING DOOR IS STUCK CLOSED !!!

Post by yorkshirelass » Fri Mar 18, 2011 3:51 pm

JUST got back from shopping when I used side door. On getting home it would not open again; Yes..tried with and without key/fob. All other doors unaffected. The tab thingy goes up/down...same as other doors too. Has the door motor gone/does it have its own motor ? Should mention...that the 'motor noise' has been gong on/off for a long time now.....but only on occasions. I just opened then closed the door again, and this seemed to work.

Anyone had this prob before ? Any suggestions please ?

Try cleaning the contacts at the bottom of the door & frame, the things that look like the valves on a trumpet - should be ok

How's she going to get the door open to do that?

I wonder if this is a candidate for the old 'thump it on the inner panel' technique (you'd need to search for advice on how its done YL)

Good luck - keep us posted [-o<

My understanding is a good slap with the flat of your hand can often clear this, there has been a good bit on here in the past.

Don't know if there is a Fact Sheet, but as suggested, once it is open a clean of the contacts can't hurt.

Otherwise I recon slide the seat out of the way and reomove the pannel to have a look inside.
Take a torch, toilet roll, and tea bags.

Thanks Bob, Muz & Mike......at least it does not sound expensive...unless I give it a kick  May sound silly but....what do I clean the valve looking thingys with [if I get the door open by the hand slapping method] ? My instinct says a dry wipe over etc then a squirt with dwd ?
Need to know this before I try anything as don't want to leave door open as its parked on the road !

You might try metal polish (Duraglit etc.). But most people would probably use a fine wet and dry sandpaper, used wet, to really get off any oxide layer.

This normally happens after a flat battery, it needs a good hard thwump from the inside with the flat of your hand. You need to hit it like you mean it

If it doesn't work then its time to take the door card off etc as per the above link.
