Re: Coolant/Overheating help
Can you access the rear heater controls at all? You could do with those being on "hot" and position 2 to guage equal heat from front to rear really... Try starting her up now with the header cap off, keep an eye on the coolant level with a top up at hand, try not to allow the level to drop below minimum if possible. Does the level drop after 5 minutes or so with the engine on tickover?

Hi,
yes I have turned the rear heater fully up as you say.
I started her up and was getting coolant overflowing from the header with the odd "burp" but didn't want to run it too long.
Have got a new t/stat so my next plan is to change that after another engine flush then repeat the bleeding process, this time taking longer to get it right.
Thanks again for the advice, watch this space

Re: Coolant/Overheating help
Ok folks I am off to re-bleed and hopefully get her sorted today.
I started her yesterday with header cap off and the level started to rise for a few mins (not overflowing) then settled. I did notice however the temp needle started to rise earlier than normal (normally takes a good few miles to rise to operating temp) so I swicthed it off.
My plan today is to install a new t/stat and try again.
Another couple of questions.
1. Is their any merit it taising the front end whilst doing this job?
2. As my rear heaters are defunct is it worth blanking of the hoses and has anyone done this before?
Thanks again for all the advice & help

yes will make access far easier to stat bolts
As my rear heaters are defunct is it worth blanking of the hoses and has anyone done this before?

Re: Coolant/Overheating help
rather than "blankoff" the rear heater hoses.....bypass the rear heater ..i.e....connect the pipes together with a bit of tube.....plumbers "bendy" copper pipe should do it.
