I just thought it would give better access as it lifts the front end, I found that having the bongo on ramps meant less stooping, is all, but then you prob'ly can't start it anyhoo  also when you do the enevitable drop tools an stuff it makes it easier to retrieve from underneath

i would be tempted to take the bottom off and check the conrods while its in bits,if the impact is strong enough to snap the rockers it may have bent the rod/s.
you may be able to tell if you rotate the crank, and get each one to tdc.

good luck mate,we all admire a fellow street mechanic

Crikey - my confidence would be low over what parts may have been weakened even if not displaying obvious signs of damage. I'd be v. tempted to get a complete replacement head assembly (includes all rockers, valves, stretch bolts, gasket? I believe) from the Bongo Shop and have done with it. And flat the block done well before fitting it (see Simon Jones on doing the job). Life's too short even if it is a dent on the pocket. :?

Cleaned up the head today.
It came up a treat, not quite brand new but not far off.

However I've just been doing the numbers.
Minimum of;
2xExhaust Valves
4xInlet Valves
6xRocker Arms
Gasket Set
Head Bolt Set
Pressure Testing
Skimming
Something like £400 so far.

Still got the cam belt, adjuster, oil, antifreeze and a couple of hoses to add plus the five things I've forgotten.
Looks like this could very well be the end of our lovely Bongo which will be very sad as with redundancy just round the corner I've not got the money to throw at a 15 year old car no matter how much I love her.

Hi,
The rockers are meant to be the Weakest Link in the system,if the rockers had not popped the head and pistons could have been very badly damaged.

Cheers.
