water pump failures

Post by helen&tony » Wed Apr 06, 2011 4:07 pm

Hi
Whilst waterpumps are on everyone's mind, has anyone had a waterpump failure with an impeller becoming loose?...chatting with a fellow member here, and we seem to remember something similar
Cheers

Hi Julian
Thanks for that..It's just while chatting about trying to pull the impeller off the shaft, that we ( myself and a fellow member here) seemed to remember an impeller failure...must be my imagination then...That's one of the benefits :^o of old age
Cheers

Just had mine done, it was the seals - slow leak over the winter. I haven't seen the pump myself but I think it was ok apart from that.

It happened during the 'great winter of 2011' Bongo had lost about 3L of coolant

I feared the worst having had the head done in 2009 and returned it to Ian Taylor.

Should get it back this week

Does it rattle when you shake it?
Helen I asked Al, he said he's not seen one sheared, but has seen the blades completely corroded, rusted away on a couple of pumps. And he's seen various levels of corrosion on a few more.

Hi Steve
Hopefully I'll lay my hands on the Bulgarian Scalpel this weekend (Disc Cutter)...
N.B. if you've seen some of the operation scars folk have here, you'd understand
Cheers
