Done a coolant flush - couldnt find a bongo guide but have done this before on different cars and done the coolant bleed to the letters,
However im concered by the green tinge in the coolant, leading me to think I havant flushed properly, so here is what I did.. (let me know what I have missed)
Disconnected rear heater (hard pipe replace)
Disconnected rear heater hose (replaced) the one going to block
Disconnect bottom radiator hose and top rad hose
Disconnected the bleed valve on the upper rad pipe just below the driver dash(under The car)
Change thermostat so disconnected these pipes
Now I flush water through all or these until it was clear,
I was hoping to crank the engine incase there was a backup behind the water pump,- but I forgot
(does this matter can't be a great seal there?)
Have I missed anything, can't decide wether to do the whole thing again
Coolant flush, have u done it ok?

Green tinge to the coolant? What coolant was in previously, and what coolant have you used this time round please?

So there was a green coolant prevously, and refilled with car plan red. I am ware of the problems of mixing coolants, hence the flush and would be happy to reflush and fill and do again. But I need to know what I have done wrong. Really in the first place or if it's normal to gave some residue left. Or even if it's ok to mix red and green even a little bit

Hmm... it sounds as if the pump has retained some of the old coolant James. But i don't know how that could be if you flushed it out. Did you run the engine with water pumping through when flushing? If the bleed bung is removed, and you put a hose into the header tank matching the flow rate of the water coming out of the bleed hose with the engine running, that should flush through ok. Then re-bung the bleed, run her up to temp, then drop the lot of plain water again. I'm sorry but it sounds from your description that the existing coolant may now have been contaminated.

No didn't run the engine or crank it this is what I think I've done wrong, also flushed parts Individually rather from the header thank to the bleed hose as you suggest
Ok thanks for the advice, looks like I will redo tomorrow, I'd rather sort it properly than take a gamble.
Next problem getting hold of some more 'car plan red' last time it took me a week to get delivered because I couldn't find any locally and I have two litres left so need another 5 from some where or can I mix it with a halfords brand?

That sounds perfect, Our resident coolant chemist Mikexgough i think will confirm that both those will mix nicely... If in any doubt, use the comma red for the initial coolant change, then chuck two litres of neat water in the carplan coolant and have as a "ready to go" top up should you ever need it.
