Hi Folks - newbie here - although I have owned a Bongo (96 2.5 TD - 8 seat AFT) and been lurking here for a couple of months.
The drivers seat has just started to wear through so I am looking at solutions other than seat covers, so a replacement or reupholstry would be in order.
Have any of you replaced the driver and front passanger seat with anything other than Bongo specific seats? Will any other Mazda seats fit or any other make? Do you know of anyone in the upholstry business in South London/Surrey/Sussex area that would do car seats - and how much might it cost.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Front seat replacement
Hi welcome aboard.... Look in the pimp my Bongo section. There is documentation off re-upholstery & replacement of front seats, including total re-furbs...!
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...

Re: Front seat replacement
i looked at that option a while back for the same reasons, and i couldnt find any seats that were thin enough on the bit you sit on,and the other seats i tried were just to high and made the seating position hideous, just sitting to high in the air, head touching roof, knees level with steering wheel etc, so i opted for a reupholster instead, but i havent got round to getting it done yet
, im not saying that all seats wont fit, i tried escort, suzuki vitara and mazda 626 with no joy, but if your prepared to search all the options out there, or have access to a breakers yard you might find some that fit, ive recently looked at my mates mx5 and anothers s2000 and the seats appear quite thin, but without taking them out and messing about with the sub frames, which they wont let me do, and im not prepared to buy some to have a go just incase they dont fit, but some of the other 2 seaters out there might do the job, just bear in mind that you will have to cut off the subframes and weld the bongo ones to the new seats, this will have to be done properly and not some lash up by a bad welder or nuts and bolts, last thing you want if you are involved in an accident is the seat mountings to come off and god knows where you could end up and with what injuries, it might jusat work out cheaper to get in contact with some of the people on here who are breaking bongos and see if they are close to you or arrange that bongo courier thing you can do if your a member. let us know how you get on.
Re: Front seat replacement
Thanks for the feedback - sorted by a visit to a breakers - £40 for 2 front seats, not immaculate but better than what I have got.
