Gear shift lever problem.
Caused myself a problem today, whilst putting driver side seat down I nocked a small plastic cover off alongside gearshift lever, then while putting cover back on I moved a cable underneath gearshift which made click noise somewhere in dash I think. Result is selector can now be moved from P to R without having ignition on or brake pedal pressed and ignition key can be removed when selector is in any position. Also the lock button does not need to be pressed when moving selector from P to R or vice versa . Anyone know how to get this back to normal.

Re: Gear shift lever problem.
Sounds like you've messed with the interlock somehow, does this help? http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... mgno=.html interlock cable is 46-300 click on the list on the left to relate the description to the diagram numbers.
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.
Re: Gear shift lever problem.
There's a plastic cover just in front of and below the centre consul. If you pop it off, (there's a clip in the middle) you'll see 2 cables, The smaller cable controls the lock etc.

Thanks for replies, yes thats the one, 46-300, that I moved but can't see how to reset it at all, it won't move either up or down now.

hi splitpin did you solve your problem as I now seem to have the same problem that you had.
Re: Gear shift lever problem.
Hi mike, did manage to fix it but can't quite remember exactly how I did as it was about a year ago and memory is becoming slightly fogged up, think it was to do with outer cable coming adrift from it's mounting under and forward of gear selector, sorry can't be more help.

Hi splitpin and everyone else for info, I managed to sort the problem, on the drivers side of the gear change below the black plastic cover there is a white plastic piece that the cable clips to, I unclipped the cable and pushed the white plastic piece up reconnected the cable and ha all is good.
