4wd petrol?

Post by nigelgibson » Mon May 09, 2011 5:05 pm

i saw last week a 97 bongo sell for 3.5k on ebay which was advertised as 4wd but 2.5v6 petrol. i was under the impression no petrol versions were made in 4wd - am i wrong?
please tell me i'm right and it's an advertising error cus i've just spent a bomb converting my diesel but would have petrol any day if only i could have the 4wd !! not grumbling life's a compromise but prefer petrol if they are available particularly as they were made for longer

Nothing listed as ever having been made according to the specs here http://specs.amayama.com/mazda/bongo_friendee/
If you can get the VIN then plug it in to the Russian database http://www.ruzip.ru/eumz/eumzcat.aspx and translate

When I visited the old Campercraft premises, Bill showed me a Bongo which had been converted to a 4wd V6, but the engine had been wrecked when the sump got smashed doing some off roading - If I recall correctly.

thanks for all the replies - i can now confirm the Bongomaster himself has spoken on this matter and states unequivocally there is no such thing as a 4wd petrol bongo.
the aaa auction house have been informed - wonder if they'll change their ads ? - too late for the individual that bought off ebay but at the price they got a really cheap 'un !
