my bongo gearbox has started playing up ,hold light flashes and wont select top.
i get fault codes 12 and 63 when i short out the wee box as per the factsheet.
so it would seem to be a TPS (12) and TCC solenoid valve(63) all pretty straightforward so far.
however, i have replaced the TPS and serviced the box (changed oil, checked and cleaned all valves)but the hold light is still flashing and the fault codes remain the same.
is it possibly a fault in the ECU as well?
my other problem is that i live in the wilds of rural Ireland and cannot find a gearbox repair shop that will go near a Bongo with a barge let alone the pole!!!
any helpful suggestions that don't use dynamite or very large hammers welcomed

Re: auto gearbox problems
You need to reset the ecu but I cant remember how some one will know It may be as simple as disconnecting the battery
You can also try changing the solonoid pack a search should give results on this

PM Alacrity, who is our autobox professional on here for advice, if he doesn't post a reply here. He may be able to advise your local autobox people that there is nothing special/rare about the Bongo autobox (which there isn't as it is - I think - a standard Nissan box as used on London taxis etc.) and to stop being wuzzesluteman26 wrote:my bongo gearbox has started playing up ,hold light flashes and wont select top.

Re: auto gearbox problems
hi everyone out there in bongoland
update on the ever confusing world of bongo gearboxes
after getting the box to select top again (although i dont know how or why) i have had about 1500 miles of trouble free driving even though the hold light was still flashing.
anyhow got up this morning started her up and pootled off and .....no top gear!!!
what exactly could have changed overnight whilst the bongo was parked up i have no idea so i shall scratch my head swear a lot and try again.
as ever if anyone has any helpful hints it would be most appreciated as i live out in rural Leitrim and cannot get any one to go near the bongo out here so i have to use my own initiative.
heres hoping i find some inspiration!!!

Re: auto gearbox problems
im not a gearbox expert by a long way, but ive seen 2 lately that have been giving trouble in the gear selection dept, and these were traced to the fuel filter or banjo filter being restricted. it may be a cheap fix as these stop the engine reving properly thus changing gear at the correct time, or even at all.
