GL-6 Oil for my LSD

Post by steveyd » Mon May 23, 2011 10:05 am

Hi All,

I have an LSD on my Bongo (yellow sticker had been undersealed over, but both wheels turn in same direction when jacked up) and it has a small leak so I want to top it up/ replace the diff oil. As a few previous posts have mentioned gl-6 oil is very hard to come by, but for those who do have an LSD which oil/brand do you use and have you had any problems? I've seen a locked post that mentioned there are some gl-5 oils but with a special LSD spec - is this ok to use?

Cheers,

Steve

p.s. Just bought a Pela pump and changed the ATF fluid - so easy and clean I made the kids their tea whilst I was waiting for it all to come out! Can see why everyone is raving about them now!

Hi,

This oil has the modifier,if your yellow sticker was undersealed over I would check the diff breather is clear.

Hi Rita,

Thankyou - I think thats the stuff I bought before I read that I needed fancy oil for my LSD.. so looks like I can stick it in.

If the breather was blocked would this cause the diff to leak/weap oil? Mines got a very slow drip from the bottom of the diff casing...

cheers,

Steve
