wiring new LB to Bongo

Hello all my firstpost to this site
I am progressing through the processes of getting my bongo ready for its first outing and with the temporary help of my son who only visits occasionaly I am wired up for electric hook ups and got my LB installed in the vehicle
I now need to wire this up as well I have a ctekxs7000 thingy plus a dashboard switch to tell me what its doing on order from Ctek what else do I need to do? In simple terms please + any diagrams/photos would be useful.
By the way I am in north devon I originally had a n reg greece green 2.5 td but had so much trouble in the first week with overheating that I P/A it for a 51 plate 2.5 V6 petrol in Caribian Blue which does look the business!!

Welcome to the board.

If you have only just fitted the L/B then its normal to fit a Split Charging Relay to allow the battery to be charged by the alternator when your rolling. There is really only one answer you will get and that is the Willinton Kit, available from http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/willinton/ look on the the lefthand side for "Contact member" and mail him with a request, this has everything you need already cut and terminated to fit into the Bongo and connect into the fuse block by the drivers knee to pickup the circuits you want to switch over to the L/B.

To fit the Ctek charger as well to charge when your on EHU then its just a case of wiring the socket on the dash board back to the battery making sure you fit an inline fuse close to the battery +ve terminal itself rated for the cable you use to do the wiring (Fuses protect the wiring not the devices themselves) I would suggest wiring something rated at around 30 Amps as you don't want to have to much voltage drop when charging. I believe some of the Ctek units also use voltage sense wires to measure the battery itself, in which case they need extending (and fusing) back to the battery as well.

I would definitely recommend the Willinton Kit. It is really simple to fit. I did it myself

If you already have the battery tray in place with a battery installed willinton does a voltage sensing relay kit which will sort you out...

Thank you for those replies but it must be easier to speak to the queen than that chap who supplies the willinton kits
I have emailed him with no response he must be really popular with everyone after him?
Is there no other way that something can be made up

I got a 30 amp auto split charger relay from ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/12V-30AMP-SELF-SW ... 19c622eaaa the only wiring needed is from your main battery to the charger then onto the leisure battery. whenever the engine is running it charges the lb. when not it automatically isolates the main battery to avoid it going flat.
£17 delivered inc cables and fuses.
I was told be some other bongonauts that this was 'not in the same league as the willmington kit. all i know that after three months of discharging and charging- this little gadget has been faultless, the charge rate is 3.8 amps so the fuses will never blow unless there is a short circuit.

me too. really good kit (& back up) and for the amount you would save sourcing and making the bits up yourself it really isnt worth the effort. i'm a firm believer of doing as much as i can myself but this one is a no-brainer!! a doddle.

It should work fine - I had a DIY version of that and it served me OK for 4 yrs. Just fitted a Willinton kit now though as it includes the jumpers to make switching blinds, radio etc. over to LB without having to faff around. Lovely bit of kit, beautifuly put together and worth every penny. But still 2 x the price of yours.

The charge rate can be a lot higher than 3.8, and in fact a lot higher than 30A if your starter battery id well topped up (the normal situation) and your LB is low. In those circumstances you ay well get most of the laternator output dumped into your LB plus perhaps some extra from the starter battery.
