Electronically reset idling speed
Hi - I've got problems with my new-to-me 2000 2.5 diesel Bongo, which has now been through a diagnostic. The garage reckon I need to get the idling speed electronically reset - I am struggling to find anyone locally that can do this (Central Cornwall). It's still under warranty but I'll need to take to Sussex...any bright ideas gratefully received please.
Thanks in advance

Re: Electronically reset idling speed
Hey up MrsF,
I'm by no means an expert on these matters... However, there will be more technical advice along shortly.
May i ask what you idle at when starting from cold? When up to temperature? & when up to temperature & you put on the air con is it a similar idle speed as when starting from cold, then drops down when turned off??

Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...

Re: Electronically reset idling speed
Hi there - thanks for responding. It tends to idle around 660 in drive (doesn't seem to be an issue in reverse) - not sure what it's doing when cold as hasn't been much of a problem then.
It's stuck at the garage so can't give you more detail - it started as an intermittent starting problem when warm. Would take a good while of ticking over to fire up and then it started to stall when idling in traffic or at junctions. Then the starting thing would be an issue. We've managed to get it to garage using brake and accelerator together but I can't do this...am pregnant and too overemotional to be stuck in the road trying to re-start it!
Thanks xxx

Re: Electronically reset idling speed
tell the garage to take a good look at your fuel pump inlet seal, as weird as that sounds! tell them to fit clear hose to the inlet/returns of the fuel pump and check for airiated/bubbles in the fuel with the car running, seen it on late shapes before, but before all that check that the fuel tank breather is clear, easiest way is to use the vehicle without the tank cap on.

Not sure if the new shape has the same cold start/ac fast idle vacuum solenoid set up (looks like it from lushprojects - http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... 1of03.html ) , but this is a common issue if so. I think this is what Jaylee was veering towards, does sound more like a fuel issue though, if it's not pump seals, could be filters or tank pick up?
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.
