Spare tyre size - 215/65R15

Post by Caroline & Tony » Sat Jun 11, 2011 5:11 pm

Hi, I have a set of alloys on my 2000 campervan - 195/70R15 front and 215/65R15 rear as recommended.

I've just bought a spare steel wheel from a breakers in Brentwood, Essex to replace the space saver one.

The tyre on it is the same size as the rear - 215/65R15 (they were all the same size on the van so I know where there are three more if anyone is interested!).

I would think its better to have the spare the same size as the front but does anyone know if I would get away with leaving the 215/65R15 on it as its got plenty of tread left, or should I change it to a 195/70R15 to be on the safe side?

Cheers!

I would leave it the difference is only 1% or 7mm when new.

its only a spare after all so won't be used for long, if at all

OR...you could always do what most of us have done and put 215's all round, easy with the spare then.
