Temporary Spoiler Removal

Post by Scooby Who » Mon Jun 13, 2011 1:33 pm

Just wondering if anyone has removed their spoiler, how have they covered the holes left exposed.

Cheers.

I've just noticed there is rust under mine on both sides under the mountings whwere there is about an 8mm gap between the spoiler and the tailgate. It is the worst rust on the whole van!

If there is a gap between the spoiler and tailgate, i think i'd whip the spoiler off and treat the spoiler mounting holes to a spot of paint to at least slow the rusting process. Once the bolts have been removed from the inside of the upper tailgate there is only bonding tape holding the spoiler on. You'll need to remove the High level brakelight first though... And tape a whopping great piece of tape around the brakelight plug making it too fat to disappear into the spoiler

Hi Scooby... Have "those meddling kids" nicked your spoiler? #-o You've got me curious... How come the spoiler has been temporarily removed if you don't mind me asking? :D

Ah well that's a sad tale of indecision. I've had a Fiamma (Vito) Bike Rack knocking around my Garage for while now. But I have tended to throw the bikes on top of my trailer. Finally, I took the spoiler off with a view to cut it so I could fit the rack, but I bottled it. My hands started to tremble at the thought of such a desecration.
So I stopped and put the spoiler back on again and decided to trawl the forum again in the hope of salvation.
