Cruise Control

Post by Kwakafb » Tue Jun 14, 2011 9:49 pm

I want to get a cruise control fitted to my Bongo as I suffer from Sciatica and struggle to keep my foot in the same position for a long time.
Are there are recommendations as to the type? I think Waeco do one.....
Are they suitable for DIY fitting or best to get a local garage to do it...

Lastly are there any recommended garages in my neck of the woods, I see a couple at Bristol which is a little far away.

What engine/gearbox you got? Waeco MS-50 is the CC of choice for the older models, but not sure if it'll work on the newer drive by wire diesels? - one or two topics on the subject here - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... mit=Search
One of the best bits of kit I've fitted, I've got a dodgy back & knees, helps tremendously 8)
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Thanks.
So does anyone know if I just need the MS50 or whether there is anything else to buy.... the reason being because it says....
"Diesel vehicles require an additional brake booster, with a source of negative pressure."

Lastly does anyone know if the Magic Speed Operating Lever below is compatible with the MS50. I will ask the suppliers if no-one knows on here.

Everything should be in the kit, there is already vacuum source on the diesel bongo & the Magicspeed is not compatible with the MS-50, I have one in a box somewhere that I got from Simon Jones to try & modify to fit, but haven't got around to, not a 5 minute job, that's for sure. Simon did manage to modify one to work I think, he's also got the draft of the bongo fitting instructions he put together if you pm him, certainly made my life easier when I fitted mine.

Re the fitting of the CC, just been refused insurance from C & CC as I fitted it myself (even though it's been on there for at least 2 years) Offered to get it checked/certified, but no go. So I'd check with your insurance before fitting

OMG Very good point!
Yes I will give them a ring and see what they say.
I haven't pressed the button to order one yet, but hopefully if I get a garage to do it, they will be ok with that. Fingers crossed. Will report back.

Ok I am insured through Lifesure with a Highway Insurance policy, they are happy with the modification as long as it's professionally fitted. =D>
So off to speak to my local garage to see if they will do it.
