Roof stuck open. issue not in archive.
Hi,
Not sure if anybody else has seen this problem before, but:
I've been through the archive and all the usual fault finding in the manual. no mention of what the problem might be, but the roof would not come down as usual even though all the "Beeps" & "tones" indicated it should be comming down. No noise from the roof motors but the control box made all the right noises.
at present i've disconected the motors and manually packed down the roof with rope as described in the manual. I've also disconected the control box which is located behind the panel above the driver's side rear wheel arch.
Has anyone seen this problem before?
I'm thinking it cant be the motors both failing simultaniously, so its more likely a loose connection somewhere.. Any idea where to start looking?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.. All the best, Pete

Re: Roof stuck open. issue not in archive.
Hi 321,
Yes, Handbreak on and light on. (Roof open light flashes and alarms when the break is off, as normal)
As a test i switched the two 30 amp fuses in the box with each other to see if one of them was at fault. Please confirm it is one of the two 30 amp fuses and not any of the other ones.
Many thanks, Pete

Re: Roof stuck open. issue not in archive.
Fuses... This could be the issue.
I've got no map of which fuse is which. I checked if all the smaller ones were visually in tact (Which they are) and switched round the two larger ones as a test

Does this help identifying the fuses? http://i465.photobucket.com/albums/rr20 ... /fuses.gifPetestacks wrote:Fuses... This could be the issue.

Re: Roof stuck open. issue not in archive.
Sorry to slip in a sub-question here, but is the control box accessible via the tray in the rear panel or does the whole panel have to be removed?

Thanks for fuse diagram D!
Julian, ta for advice.. i'm getting back onto it now and scratching my head a bit more. much appreciated.
Terry, I'd go for the whole panel if you want to get that box out.

Re: Roof stuck open. issue not in archive.
Fuses tested and OK. Contacts cleaned. Going to have to manually push roof back up and test the motor connectors.
Any other suggestions? Have I missed something obvious?

someone had recently had problem with the unit in the back and poor earth? if you have a meter try reading the ouput voltage of the control unit when switch is pressed.

Re: Roof stuck open. issue not in archive.
all connectors cleaned and the motors worked when disconnected from the track.
A secondary problem was that the upper guide wheels on the track on the drivers side had jumped out under the rail and was causing the roof to move up/down uneavenly and torsioning it a bit..
Alls well that ends/starts well.
Mouchos gracias ameigos!
