coolant and sealant additives

Someone recommended a sealant called steel seal has anyone used this before and if so would you recommended it,only asking after minor over heating and use as a precaution would be grateful for any replies

Steel seal is not to be used as a precaution, it is heat reactive, & once it's activated it then becomes inert apparantly. Only use it if you have a known issue where it would work. I think there are other sealants you can put in as a preventative, but it's better to ensure the system is sound TBH unless you find you have an issue. Make sure you are 110% sure you have bled it right.
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Dont understand why you would want to add Steel Seal, is the head buggered?
If it is why replace the hoses, stat and pump?
Do you know why it overheated in the first place?
Next thing on your shopping list should be a Low Coolant Alarm, not only is it an early warning system, you'd be suprised what peace of mind it gives you when you're driving, especially if you have had an overheating episode before.

aaahhhh...it all becomes clear.
Still wouldnt put any form of sealant in the system if its not needed.
As mentioned before, newhoses, stat and pump and a thorough bleed, followed by carefull monitoring "should" cover it.
....... a LCA, you know it makes sense.
Good luck.
