Power Steering Whine - correct fluids

Post by tallbongo » Mon Jul 04, 2011 11:57 am

Hi all,

Van has recently developed a power steering whine. I'll be having a look at the fluids tomorrow, but assuming low fluid is the cause I believe I need to use Dexron 3 compatible fluid (from forum search).

I think these products are suitable, but given I've never looked at power steering before, can anyone confirm they are ok or, if not, recommend another product.

Thanks in advance,

David.

They look OK to me 8) I used Comma from my local accessory store - cheaper than Halfrauds

Hi
Power Steering Wine      ...gosh...you do treat your Bongo!!!!
If you want to treat it, there are some good additives as well as the normal fluid...Allan's sent me some ...very good stuff!...it actually stopped a little noise I had from the pump...not worry-some, but better without the noise!
Cheers

Thanks folks. I've no time to hunt around at the moment so I'm afraid it's Halfrauds for ease. I'll let you know if it stops the whine (hic). I'm hoping the Wynn's wine will stop recurrences of the whine

Would have been a good buy if it had been available locally, but unfortunately out of stock.

Whine is certainly a lot better. Level was very low so I'm hoping there is not a leak, or if there is the stop leak will do the trick. Did lots of full lock moves to try to bleed the system. I can still hear a very slight noise, but I may just be listening harder than I used to!
