Air con fan
Hello all
Just had the air con topped up on the bongo(1995 2.5diesal 2WD), and they told me the fan wasnt working?? Did some invest myself. Check all fuses, relays all still no joy?? As ive never heard the fans on i decided to run it up to running temperture. As the temperture increased, still no Fans. As it passed normal operating temp on the Dashboard gauge(2 o'clock ish) the mason alarm started to go off. I then lost my bottle and stopped the engine. I have owned the Bongo for about a month now and have done around 400miles with no problems.
Just getting a bit paranoid the fans are fooked??
Any help will be greatly appriciated

OK, fan test... http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... o=.html#11
If you disconnect the connector to sensor part 18-804C your rad fans should kick in?!
If you disconnect the connector to sensor part 18-845 & shorting the 2 points on the connector for a while should check yer scav fan (the one in the engine bay) works too...?
Though i would start by looking to see if the actual connectors to the fans are not corroded or broken??!
Cheers Geoff, i was hoping you would be along..!

This could be of help to you too? 6th post down by Daveblueozzie... http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... ensor+test
To help with location of the rad fan sensor with pics.. Drivers side!
Also, running a salon style hair drier over the scav fan sensor & playing some heat, next to the handbrake pointing down into the engine bay will trigger it too! With just the "primary" ignition on..
(Scav fan triggered by excessive ambient heat in the engine bay, normally at a stand still?)

Re: Air con fan
if your mason is set at 4.5 ish, and your system is health the fans should come on just before the bottom line of the H block.
or if you have a thermal digital gauge to point at the top hose outlet----96 deg c +/- a deg or 2.
find the fan switch (driverside above the starter motor on the head/rear,) if the end wobbles, its caput.
the grey plastic end becomes seperated from the brass body, this increases the resistance and the trigger point can vary to the point of not working at all.
new one from mazda £36.

Temp sensor discounected and both fans kick in, and Scav fan is working too. But still no fan when Air con is turned on?? Double checked all fuses and still no joy.
Any ideas fella's?

Re: Air con fan
Yeah air con is working fine, just over heats & cuts out when Bongo is stationary.

Jeylee!! Think you have hit the nail on the head!!!
Just found a relay burnt out! Its the foward R/H, as if your looking under the bonnet. What do they all do? And more importantly, where can i get one!!!!!!
Re: Air con fan
you can swap them about, the fans are controlled by 2 of the relays, 1 brings them on low speed, the other to full speed. Err didnt your original post say you checked all the relays? lol
