Hi all,

Just thought I share my solution to check the coolant fluid level on a murky bottle.

1/ get yourself a PLASTIC Chinese style chopstick (not a pointed Japanese chopstick or a dirty one from the take away :mrgreen: )
2/ Cut off excess chopstick :roll:
3/ Cut/hacksaw a groove around (about 2cm) from bottom

The grove will help hold a small amount of coolant if at correct level :!:

My Bongo has a handy little hole on the bracket......... perfect for holding the chop stick =D>

Been using one for 2 years....got a dark grey one from a chinese restaurant....kept full length I keep it next to my long tie wrap (for the drain hole, rear of the bonnet channel) in my Leisure battery tray.....

I keep a useful Derren Brown on a disused leisure battery tray to remind me to check my coolant level.!

Why hasn't this header tank got two stainless steel screws near the 'low' level marker with wires leading off them?

Well I took your advice and drilled a couple of holes in the tank, fitted the screws & attached wires...but i can't figure out how that helps :?: I just had heaps of coolant spurting out! had to top up (and recheck with my chopsticks :D )...now got a little leak from the screw holes :(
will this cause a problem :?

Should have used those Mazda Non Leak screws #-o

£25.99 each plus VAT and postage, maybe :wink:

Wish I'd read this before. My little monster was playing the "drums" yesterday with my only pair of decent plastic chopsticks and managed to break both of them - probably just to the right length to do the necessary job of coolant checking.

The bin men took them away this morning. Now I feel like the person who forgot to buy a lottery ticket ........ "Genuine Bongo Coolant Measuring Device" on EBay. Could have taken early retirement with two of them for sale.

Seriously, great idea of yours Wayne - especially finding the handy holder =D>
