Diagram of Cooling system

Post by Dannyboy » Fri Jul 22, 2011 11:33 am

Hi Y'all,

A few weeks ago I came across a pretty, coloured, moving diagram of the cooling system in one of the threads in the Techie Stuff forum.
From memory I think it showed the coolant flow with the thermostat closed and open. I have been looking for it again without success.
Does anyone know which thread it is in?

Thanks,

Dannyboy

It won't be long before the King of the Kooling System himself picks up on the vibrations on the jungle floor, and arrives hotfoot to take charge.......

and Mike is right, I bit - can't resist  , but he forgot to add that as far as the cooling system is concerned, I can get VVEEEEERRRRRRRYYYYYY boring.

I'm just buggering about with one for the head. Quite interesting (to me, but boring to most) stuff coming up.

Does this mean you're somewhere near getting the factsheets put together so all these fantastic drawings, animations & info is in one easy to find place?

eerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
There's SO much information that it is difficult to know what to add and what to leave out.
Another problem is that in the finer detail, I am not 100% happy. Stories from various folk have made me have a re-think, but only on the small very things.
I re-read some data from Grahameatwork recently and whilst it sort of cemented my thoughts, it also threw in a couple of niggling doubts in one small area.

Trying to show the system in red for flow, blue for return is ok for schematics and most mechanically minded will understand the limitations of it.
IMHO the only time blue should be used is to show cooled coolant from the rad being used when the primary circuit opens the stat.
At no time should blue be used between the stat and pump as we know the primary circuit controls this and mixes the cooler rad coolant after the stat. Maybe an extra colour or a red/blue mix to show return but not cooled coolant so the non teckies can have a better understanding of the system.
Nit picking I know, but for a good reason I hope.............
