Water pump failure?

Post by ptatham » Mon Jul 25, 2011 1:03 pm

What are the symptoms? Have reaasembled my bongo by by passing rear heater, fitted a new rad and bled system according to youtube directions, but rad cap is blowing and temp gauge is rising and continuing. No leaks from new or existing joins. Wonder if the waterpump is no longer pumping and caused all my problems in the first place? Even after as good a engine flush as I could do the water looking pretty murky. Hope you can shed light on this, thanks for your help so far.

Bottom hose still cool must have done something wrong during bleeding process or thermostat is faulty?

If you've got any doubts about stat or waterpump, it's not a big job & is sensible to replace both, especially the thermostat. If you followed the youtube vids for bleeding, did the bleed funnel rise & fall as in the video with the engine revs? This fluctuation is driven by the waterpump speed.
