... and girls ?? :)

Um well the good news is the part is cheap as I remember maybe 10 or £15 .... the bad news is it's pretty much a full day of labour to strip down and get to it ... I had to have mine done about 6 months ago. There are two other seals in the same area ... cam shaft possibly ? and they are about£8 each so get them replaced at the same time ...

Hi,
I think M Bongo is reffering to a 2.5 diesel engine. :)

Cheers.

Not read on here of this happening to a diesel before. Would Steve at Outback Motors be a good person to ask?

From what i've seen it looks like remove aircon radfan, loosen alternator, remove crankshaft pulley to gain access to the oilseal i'll ring bellhill tomorrow and ask the question while ordering a seal kit

For interest of V6 ers

£540 of labour @ £45 per hour and I got one mail order with 24hr delivery for £45. I was in a bit of a bind as we were up in Scotland on holiday in Feb...........

Absolute treat.....hope the diesel is a much kinder bill....

if you have a pit it should be ok,shouldnt need to touch the aircon fans, may remove scavenger fan if you need a bit more room.
watch the crank pulley, if you pull it wrong it could seperate as its bonded together, grip it from the rear not on the belt grooves. then like you say straight forward job. =D>

yep i thought as much, it'll be going in to have the job done and while they have it they can do an oil and filters change to to save me having the mess, glad i havn't got a leaky V6 tho that sounds a little more indepth and having just paid out £430 to have the diesel pump removed refirbed and refitted i really don't need another huge bongo bill

Also look for a cause of the seal leak - could be the breather pipe from the camcover is kinked or blocked, or the filter mesh inside the camcover is blocked. If the system isn't breathing properly the new seal will pop too.
