roof stuck up

Post by nigelgibson » Mon Aug 01, 2011 1:13 pm

Friend of mine just called to say he's on hol in Barmouth Wales, and his roof is stuck up. Checked correct fuse [12 30a ] and handbrake on / roof switch pressed. The beep comes on but nothing happens. Told him where control box and motors are and to check connections are good, also how to remove motors and lower with rope. Have i missed anything ??

He needs to fix properly as it's a long drive home at 25mph and they're only half way through hol , so can refer to bongo friendly garage list but any other suggestions?

Lift the cente console, the switch is a basic jobby at the back of the handbrake, may just need a scrape, but possibly not that as the beeps are apparantly working, worth checking though, most roof issues I've see have been caused by that.

recently saw a roof where 1 motor had died, does he hear any noises from either/both the motors when he pushes the switch either up or down?? if so he can get round it temporarily by removing 1 motor and giving the roof some support as he brings it down.
