Just bought some RX8 Alloys

Post by Devonduo » Tue Aug 02, 2011 5:30 pm

Hi Guys,

Firstly can i say what a great help this site has been to me already, but i need some help again.

I am just in the process of getting a nice shiny set of 18" 5 spoke alloys from an RX8, the tyres will be 225/45/R18 load rating 95 XL speed rating is W, what would you recomend as the correct tyre pressures for my 1999 Bongo ?

get higher rated tyres for a start, should be an absolute minimum of 96 load rating - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... x8#p512079

95s are okay for the front but as Kirsty says - Dont even think about sticking them on the rears. The inner walls will split in no time at all.

Bin there. Done that.

95s aren't alright for the front though, the use of 92 as a load rating (as stated in the link above) is for a specific size of 15" tyre, the next profile listed (still a 15" - according to the door panel & handbook) is a 96. Hence I would not be happy running much less than a 98 on 18" wheels, not even starting about wheel load ratings

I run on the advice of Steven's Tyres of Teddington: Achillies Desert Hawk HT 101V 235/50/18 on RX8 Aloys.
Well tested now, would buy again.

I ran my RX8s on 40 front & rear.

Seemed happy with that.

I went straight up to 44psi as I've an lpg conversion with the extra weight of a 55 litres of gas - which is situated where the spare wheel normally goes - that and a full camping load and the four of us, I choose the extra pressure.
