check your 18" Accelerra tyres for splits!

Post by rapiddescent » Fri Aug 05, 2011 10:47 am

hi folks, I was sniffing around the bongo and noticed that one accelerra tyres (that fit on the rx-8 wheels) had really split badly on the inside edge. luckily I had another rx-8 wheel and changed it immediately.

check yours today! (and then report back if you also have splits)

Hi,

It looks like that tyre has been run under pressure at some time in its life..

Cheers..

yes, could well be. Certainly when I picked up the van a few years ago the tyre pressures were about 30psi! I tend to do for 38/40 or thereabouts. I checked the other tyres and they are OK.

Most people seem to run at least 40psi, the tyre pressures inside the door are the original spec Jap tyres that are apparantly softer compound tyres.

I think they are either 100W or 102W but certainly say "EXTRA LOAD" on the side.
