water draining out of offside rear cill

After rain showers noticed water draining out of offside rear cill near to where the waste water outlet from the sink is fitted, removed the waste outlet attatched by screws to the underside of the cill even more water drained out,this has now happened every time it rains, how does the water enter? the vehicle has not been driven in the rain but has been parked on my drive, member `velocette `has posted about 20mm holes in rear cills which should have rubber bungs in, my cills had been plastered thickly with underseal by previous owner ( crafty ) can`t see any holes even when gunge removed but loads of corrosion near the cut out for the waste outlet which I have treated with kurust & Hammerite paint, can now see that water actually flows from between the cill seams.

Need to bite the bullet, remove that underseal, and see what is really going on I reckon. Mine was given full dinitrol treatment by spraying through those grommet holes (the grommets were missing) and the sprayers advised fitting grommets promptly once they'd done the job (which I did - easy to source at a motor factors). I have since, mind you, had to have a serious rusted through section welded up on the n/s where a front cross member meets the cill. This was clearly well established before I even bought the Bongo and got it dinitroled. For better or worse, you need to find out what is going on, and deal with it.

I do notice with mine that rainwater comes off the roof and seems to make its way to ground routing via the cill area just behind the drivers door (I park with 2 wheels on the kerb so van is tilted that way - it would do the same on the passenger side iuf it was tilted the other way). That cill region does seem to get inundated its hard to imagine that can help anything!

A few people have mentioned painting with zinc primer only, on bits that don't show. Don't most primers have to be overpainted as they tend to be porous? Unless they mean something like Galvafroid.

Thanks to all for info & advice, have located the rear cill bungs but have not yet investigated, also have removed the underseal from the cills, surprisingly only small areas of surface corrosion, cut back the affected areas, treated with kurust & hammerite. The suggestion to remove the panel to the rear of the drivers seat to check for internal corrosion is not an option as the sink unit/gas hob & fridge are all in situ.
Would the application of waxoil/ Dinitrol injection into the cill interior through the rubber bung holes be beneficial.
The nearside cill is not leaking water but would it advisable to drill into the underside of the cill near to the rear wheel arch to see if any water drains out.

Another observation of the rainwater path as it runs to ground via the internal door support and then through the front mudflap area, there is a rubber bung that seals the wiring loom for presumably the mirrors & window activation, this bung pops out when the door is fully opened it would appear that one of the retaining clips has broken off allowing this to happen, noticed that the rainwater path as it drains to ground actualy runs over the bung & probably into the interior of the door support could this be the cause of water in the cill.
The rear wheel arches are showing signs of corrosion with paint blisters viewable, may consider renewing them & also have the cill problem investigated if it persists, but not until next year and only if I decide to keep the Bongo

Hi all, as no one has commented on the last post decided to investigate further, sealed the wiring loom rubber grommet in the door support metal framework & then poured water over the front screen & drivers door, opened the door & could see that water draining to ground does flow over the grommet, checked the rear of the cill. no water draining out . so would appear to be a connection between the door support & cill that allows water to enter.Now propose to pour Kurust through the grommet orifice hopefully this will coat any rust within the cill, then waxoyl via same route & seal the cill area, may also drill hole in near side cill to check if any water drains out if so will repeat above.
So check your grommets are clipped in place securely as you might be experiencing the same issues
