I was wondering if it is possible to swap the roof from an AFT to a normal tin top??
Since moving on to a caravan, I can see us ever sleeping upstairs again and I was wondering if there was anyone who has had this done, or knew anywhere that would do it?
Cheers

Re: changing the roof...
A different roof shape as far as I know. Also the tintop roof is slightly higher than the aft roof when closed. My conversion came out of an aft and there is a noticeable gap at roof level, due to the different heights.
The swap is supposed to be impossible the other way. An aft roof just does not fit. If anyone had made it work there would be quite a few ex tintops around with factory roofs. Filling in a large hole in the roof would easier than roof fitting I suppose, but what would be the benefit? Getting under barriers is all I can think of. Not much difference on fuel consumption according to most figures.

AFT roof panel - http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/c ... mgno=.html

Tintop roof panel with sunroof - http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/c ... mgno=.html
Anything's possible, but not a simple job & you'll have instantly devalued the vehicle & made it less versatile.
Better to sell it & get a tinny if that's the way you want to go, you should make a profit on it & possibly get newer vehicle.

Thanks for the replies and advice. A bit more thought needed maybe then. Very reluctant to sell her as, even though I have had her only 18 months, I have had no problems what so ever. She has minor cosmetics, but no rust and mechanically as sweet as a nut, and even though we dont camp in her anymore, she is still a great all rounder.
I had thought about getting a 4x4, but they still have crap fuel consumption and you cant sit and have a picnic them either
Think I might look at respraying the roof and get rid of the tatty decals on the side.....
