I thought that view looked familiar - Trebarwith Strand, near Tintagel! Cool!

Pippin - where have you been all my life.pippin wrote:Not just the fiver that was steep - I hope you put some bricks under the front wheels!!
Good to see you still dropping in occasionally and hope you are well.
Mike
PS - Pippin is one of the grandaddies of this forum (for anyone new who might wonder). He sold his Bongo in the Jurassic period but his legend lives on.

Not quite as picturesque but very handy to know - Toby Carvery, just 2.2 miles from the NEC on the Coventry Road at Stonebridge roundabout.
Had a 3 course meal and a drink (£10 total), watched their TV for a while and then stayed the night in the car park (free) - along with 2 other campers. Next day back to the NEC. Cool!

Tibbie Shiels at St Mary's Loch in Scottish Borders is ok. As previously mentioned wild camping is acceptable here but it's nice to be within staggering distance of the van,

Another new stopover site is http://www.britstops.com/
£25 a year and it's listings are growing every month. It covers all kinds of locations, not just pubs.

Pal of ours has recommended Brit Stops, he has a huge motorhome and still seems to get in most places.
Should be a piece of cake with a Bongo.

Re: Camping in Pub car parks.
Do these types of camping places allow tents? Or just motorhomes? Is it even advisable to have a tent (security-wise). This has always put me off joining these websites. I know you cope OK with just the bongo, Bob, but I would struggle [I don't know why it would be harder with one person and a dog than with two people but there you go.Bob wrote:Dago & Mrs D wrote:Another new stopover site is http://www.britstops.com/

I think most of these 'Stopovers' are basicaly car parks, so only suitable for vehicles rather than tents.
I'd ring ahead and check if needing to put tent up, just to be certain.

Tucker's Grave, Faulkland.

Very close to Bell Hill Garage, one of the best pubs I know, and if you ask nicely they may let you stop over.

Never been a great one for carveries, Mrs V being a vegetarian but I camped in the NEC car park when I was at Crufts with the Rescue and we ate at that carvery and I was highly impressed. The food was really good and theservice was excellent.Jillygumbo wrote:Not quite as picturesque but very handy to know - Toby Carvery, just 2.2 miles from the NEC on the Coventry Road at Stonebridge roundabout.

Re: Camping in Pub car parks.
Did you pay to camp in the NEC car park (loads of dosh) or did you hide in a corner? I did ask but was told I was not allowed to.Velocette wrote:Never been a great one for carveries, Mrs V being a vegetarian but I camped in the NEC car park when I was at Crufts with the Rescue and we ate at that carvery and I was highly impressed.
