I fancy playing mechanic on my day off tomorrow!

OK, done the research.... (Members aria & stuff on this forum.) Got the tools needed.. (cotton buds from old tape cleaning days, even got a couple of those magnets on extendible rods lying about!)

What i don't know is.... What do you clean the filter out with? (Should any crud be built up on the gaus strainer when i remove it..)

I figured i don't want to be using anything with a higher combustion rate than diesel....

ours wasn't too bad , just gave it a blast off with some carb cleaner.

It fits in the nozzle of a tyre inflater - that's how I did mine

From what i can find under my sink to something cranked up & backfed from the inbred...!

When i cleaned my banjo filter, i found a very small amount of brown like hard crud, i think something like caramelised oil. It was a small amount, but i found that if i broke it a little, it came out, then i just blew air through it and held it against a light to see it was clean.

I have a small plug in the cig lighter socket compressor (Mainly for pumping up my dads wheelchair.) Do you reckon that would do the job? Just in case??!!

Am i given to understand the crud would build up on the outside??

The crud was on the inside ,so it must have been slowing the fuel down a little bit.

As if the filter is seen as a cup, where the tea would stain?

Imagine the banjo as a tea strainer, you pour the tea through the strainer and it catches the tea leaves, (don't work with tea bags

)
The fuel goes through the strainer (banjo filter) and it catches any crud that the main fuel filter does not catch before it gets to the injectors.
Are you changing the fuel filter as well, if so get some injector fluid and fill the new filter with it to clean the jets.

Cheers Dave... Was having a little trouble with my reasoning looking at the pictures in the fact sheet.. Sussed now.. I'm not really a tea drinker... Tastes like liquid halitosis to me!
