5th post down by Patnben on this thread tells you how to check it.
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

mikeonb4c wrote:Excellent advice as usual Kirsty. Out of interest, where's the best place to purchase fuel tubing from and would you be able to give idiot-proof instructions on what to ask for e.g.:
I'd like to get some in for when I attend to my fuel sender (which is just begineeing to show signs for needing attention).
- how many 6mm (1/4") internal diameter pieces needed and what length
- how many 8mm (5/16") internal diameter needed and what length
Finally got around to replacing the fuel hoses under the drivers seat, just had enough to do them all from the 2 x 1m lengths that I bought to do the sender hosesmissfixit70 wrote:I got mine from my local independent type car shop, but any motor factor etc should be able to supply, I got a 1metre length of each, hoping it'll be enough to do all the hoses under the drivers seat too, I'll keep you posted on that onebut for the sender I think the lengths were approx 150mm (2 x 6mm id & 1 x 8mm id I think) but probably not necessary to do the vapour hose on the left, that was a bit of a pain to do as well, ended up pulling the valve assembly out of the sender plate to get the hose off, then had to take the rubber grommet off the valve, firkle it back in the hole then push the valve back in once the hose is fitted at both ends.

I reckon they've been replaced at some point.
It didn't take long, changed the fuel filter while I was at it, found I had a priming pump on mine which I'd never realized

Filled the filter with diesel & then a few pumps on the priming pump, started first flick of the key

Re: Fuel Gauge Fix
Just started doing my fuel hoses... Removed the skinny one on the right & its shot away on the inside too!!
Got my 6 & 8mm hose for replacement..
What i wanna know is.. Did you replace the really fat one on the right?? Is it the fuel filler hose from the cap?

Re: Fuel Gauge Fix
No, it's just a breather, look on lushyp
Filler comes in lower down from memory. Not imperative to do the one on the left as that's just breather type jobby too, middle 2 are supply & return.
