what pressure should my tyres be?

Post by casls650 » Mon Aug 29, 2011 6:36 pm

I have a lovely converted freeda, and she has has alloy wheels which are not original with 205/65R15 Kumho KH16 94H tyres on. What I dont know is how to work out what the pressures for the tyres should be. Should they be different front and back? is there an equation? Or can anyone tell me what they should be. Fingers crossed and thanks

Hi Cas, firstly those rear tyres are under rated (weight wise) for a bongo i'm afraid... You'll be needing to uprate them the next time you fit new tyres to a load rating of 96 for the rears, you are ok with 94's on the front wheels. Pressure wise...go with what feels right.... When i had 15" alloys, and tyres with big sidewalls i went from anything between 40-45 PSI...Anything less, and the tyres looked, and felt spongey.

If they're 205s on the front they need to be at least 96, 92 rating for the front is only listed for 195/70 R15 on the front, at least if they're all the same rating they can be swapped round  Check the max rating of the tyres, but anywhere between 36 -45 seems to be acceptable, I used to run 38 front & 40 rear on 15s.
