fannying around with the fan

Post by bikerbob » Tue Aug 30, 2011 9:47 pm

The fan cannot be switched off, its always on the lowest speed, it worked ok until I removed the radio to fit a digital thermometer. Behind the radio, on a bracket is a beige plastic thingy which has 2 screws attatching it to a bracket,in a eureka moment I unscrewed the lower of the 2 screws to ground the earth wire for the thermometer, as I was unscrewing this lower screw I noticed that behind the screw something was moving, it looked like white plastic vanes, quickly screwed it back up & since then have had the fan problem. What Have I done, or am I barking up the wrong tree.

You got digital or manual controls? you sure it's the fan blowing & not just air blowing through as you're driving? stick it on recirc, it should close that off IF that is the issue. If the fan is continually blowing even when turned off could be a relay or resistor pack issue maybe?

You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.
