v6 all noise and no go

Hey Guys here we go again all sorted, cleared the fault codes replaced the vris solanoid and cam sensor no more fault codes, re timed the ignition it is now working and running on idle lovely, but i still have all noise and no go when i give it beans on the gas peddle it all runs tickety boo tho, but just no go just lots of noise as if it is going like the clappers


I still seem to have a resinating / vibrating noise coming fro the vacinity of the vris solanoid at about 2500/3000 revs

solanoid no2 has been replaced and it appear to be now working well it moves the valve rod when you rev it anyway which it didn't before it didn't work when you gave it 12 volts either so i reckon it was goosed, solanoid no1 appears to work fine works if you give it 12v from the battery, how freely should air flow through the check valve 13-995 obviously it should only flow one direction which is demonstrated on the valve but it is diffacult to get air through it the correct direction, if it is not working correctly could it be possible that this would cause bad vacuum which could lead to my resinating in the surge tank and my lack of go

What do all you mega techies think help would be apreciated as i want my van back to beasting t4s and vito's and NOT JUST keeping up with nissan micra's

not sure on the v6 but the one on the diesel i think allows the vac to be dumped under control from the egr solenoids,
if yours is not allowing the vac to be dumped. or fast enough, it could affect what is happening before it.
try removing it and join the pipe together, see what happens, shouldnt hurt for a short test.
the one on the diesel is quite easy to blow through and shuts quickly when sucked.

Thanks NB, i will try that one I've tried allsorts of things so far changing solanoids, swopping solanoids for solanoids, leaving pipes off that one aswell but to no avail, sometimes i may get a slight feel of power when i boot it but it not right.

Probably better off taking it to a fuel injection specialist unless you need a little relief ...............
Is the cam sensor adjustable and if so is it timed in?

A little light relief would be nice Mr P but not of the wallet veriety


As far as i know (and it aint alot) it isn't adjustable as seperate part i am more than likely to shot down tho , but i will go thru the manual again and check. It is doin my swede in at mo it is all there just no ooooooomphhhhhhhhh

you describe it as all noise and no go.
im no expert but does this suggest the engine is fine, does it rev fully when not under load, then fails when the turbo is called into play, if so check this side of things, or the timing of everything again, but sounds like you would spot that, sometimes when your suede is being cooked it can be hard to see the wood .
i find slinging it in the back of the garage for a week works wonders, it usually gets sorted in minuites on return.

I can most defo say it not the turbo ` trouble is NB the dam thing has been chucked in the back of the garage but can't live without it

Or lambda sensor, could even be what a certain person did when the pr*tt over the road kept revving the dogs do da's off his Fiat at stupid times in the morning. Builders foam up the exhaust.....................Not that I would do it............

A long shot - make sure the exhaust baffles haven't collapsed and choked the system.................................

Had new lambda so cant see it being that, exhaust appears to be clear.

Would i be right in thinking that all the vris etc is controlled by the TPS dandy
